What Are Cholesterol and Triglycerides?

LDL - We call this bad cholesterol because it can cause fat to build up in arteries. Those arteries become narrow, blood doesn’t flow as well, and your risk of heart trouble goes up.

HDL - This one is good cholesterol. It helps move some of your LDL out of your arteries to reduce your risk for a heart attack and stroke.

Triglycerides - This is a common type of fat that can build up in arteries when LDL is high, or HDL is low.
