What kinds of videos do you produce?
This animated video recently won an Addy award. Check it out!
We produce a wide range of engaging videos in our fully equipped on-site studio, including animations, motion graphics, and live-action videos. If need be, we go on location. As a full-service video house, we can handle all your video needs.
Can PT help me promote my solution with a marketing campaign or collateral?
Check out this promotional video we created for the American Heart Association.
Absolutely. With PT, you don’t need to go to a learning company and then a marketing agency—we can serve both functions and do the work faster.
We’ve also done marketing work for dozens of clients, including Dell EMC, HPE, Intel, Lenovo, and Microsoft.
Can you tell me more about PT's internal cloud staffing model?
Many learning companies assign to each project a set of individuals who are solely responsible for completing the work. In contrast to this siloed, static approach, staffing at PT works like a well-run computing cloud: as your resource needs change, we adapt to meet them. A core team provides support and consistency. In addition to your PM, your team may include instructional designers and writers, multi-media developers, graphic designers, audio engineers, videographers, quality assurance testers, and more. When the project demands more, other experts from our team jump in—but only for as long as it takes to do the work. Even though you don’t pay for their full-time service, you still benefit from a wide range of skills and expertise. In addition, when team members must go offline for vacation or other reasons, the project continues apace. For projects with short timelines, we can devote additional resources to finish the work more quickly than we could using only a traditional team.
Walk me through the steps of a typical e-learning project.
However works best for you. We frequently devote a dedicated project manager (PM) to each project. The PM meets with you at intervals of your choice, tracks deadlines, and helps resolve problems as they come up. You can be as involved or uninvolved as you want.
How do you price your projects?
Individually, depending on your specific needs. We start by listening to you to understand the current state of your content, your budget, your timeline, and any other requirements you have. Using that data, we estimate how much work the project will require. When we send you a bid, we note all the assumptions and limitations that influence our estimate.
How do you keep the project on schedule and within budget?
Do you use contractors?
Not for course development. Everyone working on your project is a full-time PT employee. Because we don’t use outside contractors, we retain complete control over quality and delivery. Our in-house team can work in parallel with yours, shifting priorities as needed, iterating quickly, and delivering exceptional products to your schedule and budget. We do use contractors for on-camera acting, some voiceover work, and translations, as is standard.
Can you produce my solution in different languages?
Yes. We can translate and/or localize all components of your solution into any major languages. It’s helpful for us to understand your translation needs from the start of a project, but we can provide them at any point in the project.
Do you have a rate card?
Because we create custom solutions, we do not have a rate card for fixed-price projects, which represent the majority of our work. We do have a standard rate for projects we bill hourly. Contact us to discuss rates and resourcing for your next project.
Do you have subject matter experts on staff?
We employ or have access to subject matter experts in several fields, including technology and medicine, but we may not be experts in your field—yet. We work closely with your subject matter experts to develop effective learning that uses the same terminology your learners will want to use.
How will we communicate during the project?
The PM acts as your primary contact. We learn how you want to work and what you want the review process to look like, so you can fit the demands of the project into your current workload. Typically, we have a weekly call to deliver updates and share components as we complete them; however, we can also communicate via email only, if you prefer. You also have the option of logging into our Teamwork site to gain a real-time view of the project.
Which development tools do you use?
Any of the leading tools you prefer. We work primarily in Adobe Captivate, Storyline, and HTML5, but we’re also comfortable using Adobe Animate, Xyleme, Bootstrap, Rise, and the Greensock Animation Platform (GSAP), to name but a few.
Which industry verticals do you work with?
If you can name a vertical, we’ve probably worked with a company in it! Our client list includes major technology companies, financial institutions, healthcare organizations, manufacturing companies, global non-profits, professional organizations, luxury goods retailers, and many, many more.
Tell me about your quality assurance process.
PT employs multiple full-time QA professionals who test every build prior to delivery using our large inventory of laptops, tablets, and phones. They document any problems thoroughly, allowing the developers to resolve bugs quickly and creating a record of past bugs to enable regression testing. Unlike shops that lack our broad inventory of devices, we needn’t rely on software emulators to test your learning.
Why might interactive content feel expensive?
The best interactive content solutions earn learners’ attention, reward it with delightful content, and empower them to build their own paths. If creating such solutions were easy, everyone would be doing it. To accomplish those complex goals with a tool that feels intuitive requires creativity, customization, and many hours of work. We tailor each interactive content solution to your specific needs.
Check out the “Work” section for samples.
Can PT host my solution?
Yes, we have a learning management solution (LMS) available for hosting your learning. We’re also comfortable working with your LMS; most of our clients use their own LMS to host the solutions we develop.
What happens if my content changes during or after the project?
We do our best to incorporate changes that occur mid-project, and will always let you know if the size of a potential content change will jeopardize deadlines or exceed the original scope.
Will PT maintain my solution over time?
If you want us to do so, we will. We can maintain your learning in several ways:
We keep all our source files and have very low staff turnover, so it’s easy for us to dive back into your solution at any time.
How do you handle change orders?
While we do our best to understand your needs from the outset, sometimes scope evolves unavoidably once work is underway. We will work with you to price a change order to add the features and enhancements you need, and we’ll fold the changes into our existing project plan.
How do you ensure integration with our learning management system?
Early in the project, we work with you to connect with your LMS team and test a sample course in your LMS. This early check-in, combined with our deep knowledge of all major LMSes, helps us avoid problems at the end of the project. As the project concludes, our development team works closely with your LMS team to ensure a smooth rollout, fixing bugs as they come up.
How long will my project take?
Project timelines depend on many factors, including but not limited to:
Once we understand the above factors, we can estimate how long it will take to complete your project.
What are your payment terms?
Our standard payment terms are net 30, but if we have a Master Services Agreement with your organization, we abide by that.
Will you work with other vendors we use?
While certain unusual situations might warrant our working with another vendor—and we are willing to do so when necessary—we believe we execute projects most efficiently and best serve your needs by performing all work in house.
Will PT staff work on-site at my facility?
Because almost everyone at PT works on multiple projects at a time, our staff generally does not work on-site at client facilities. However, if you’re located near the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina or if the project’s cost covers travel to your facility, we’re happy to visit for on-site meetings.
Can I visit the PT headquarters?
Yes! We welcome visitors and would love to show you around. Reach out to info@principledtechnologies.com to schedule a visit.
Do you offer volume discounts?
We don’t offer a standard volume discount on fixed-price projects. We will consider discounts for very large projects, however, and are happy to discuss this with you. We do offer a reduced hourly rate for large annual retainers.
