For many business and creative professionals, their daily driver laptop has been an indispensable partner through the highs and lows of wrangling complex projects and crunching through tight deadlines. If you’ve relied on a familiar and dependable system for many years, the idea of a new laptop might not be top-of-mind. However, AI is quickly changing the tech landscape, and to fully benefit from its potential, you need hardware that can handle new kinds of intense computational demands. Sticking with older systems could limit what you and your team would otherwise achieve with new high-performance hardware. The right laptop upgrade could be the tool you need to reach new levels of success with the challenges of today and explore the unprecedented opportunities of an AI-powered future.
We used a wide range of tools and industry-standard benchmarks to compare the AI workload-, graphics-, and everyday work performance of three new Lenovo PCs—a Lenovo ThinkBook 13x Gen 4, a Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 5, and a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12—to earlier-generation versions of the same systems. We also measured and compared the battery life of each laptop. All three of the new Lenovo laptops we tested featured NPU-equipped Intel Core Ultra processors and ran Windows 11 Pro.
In our tests, we found significant AI performance advantages for the three new Lenovo PCs compared to their older counterparts. We also assessed the AI capabilities of the new PCs and found that they offered a host of new AI features and enhancements that are not available with the older laptops.
In addition, the new Lenovo laptops we tested delivered stronger performance across the board in resource-intensive creative workloads and daily productivity tasks than the older Lenovo laptops. On top of those performance gains, the new laptops also provided substantial battery life improvements compared to the legacy systems.
Our research and test results indicate that organizations that invest in upgrading to latest-gen Lenovo laptops can gain longer battery life, faster response times, and higher performance scores—including in demanding AI workloads.
